Aplastic
anemia is getting more common in Asian countries. Not many
people in India are aware of Aplastic Anemia, which is a life
threatening disease. It is very important that people get
involved in saving lives by donating blood, platelets and
bone marrow. Through this website, we also want to address
the fear or stigma associated specially with platelets and
bone marrow donation. We hope that more information on this
subject will motivate a lot of people to offer a choice to
the Aplastic anemia patients to fight and win over this deadly
disease.
Considering
this issue, Dharini Patel, formed a non-profit
organization, Aplastic Anemia Association
of India (AAAOI). This is first organization
in India, helping to fight against Aplastic Anemia.
Aplastic
Anemia Association of India is focusing on people in India
including non-English speaking and people with less or no
knowledge about computers.
Our objective is to help patients to find answer for their
questions, put them in touch with other patients, provide
emotional support to them, and to make them aware of the resources
offered by the other global organizations to cope up with
this complex illness.
This
organization is working with South Asian Marrow Association
of Recruiters (SAMAR). SAMAR has extended beyond
that USA bounds to assist in creating the database of potential
volunteer Blood Stem cell n marrow donors in India
