Stories related to Aplastic Anemia

Bhagwati Patel

Bhagwati Patel was suffering from Aplastic Anemia. She was around 52 yrs old. She was diagnosed for AA in Sept'2000. She took ALG with Cyclosporine in Bombay hospital in October'2000. But there is no response of the medicine. She has to take platelets every week and blood every month. Later on, she was taking platelets every third day. She passed away in June 2002.

My family and I had great problem searching people to donate platelets. People were scared for donating platelets. We really want to thanks Amit Joshi, Raju Asher, Dipesh Doshi, Rajesh Chitali, Sandeep Parab, Abhijeet, and Malini Pandhya for helping my family by always being ready to donate platelets and blood whenever we needed.

We are really thankful to all the people who tried helping us; even their health didn’t permit them to go for donation.

We really want to spread awareness regarding Aplastic Anemia, Platelets and Bone marrow transplant. We want to support other patients and their families in whichever way we can. We will be more than happy to help them.

Mr. Rana

Hi, I am Mr. Rana. I have Aplastic anemia. It was diagnosed in January 2001. I didn't have any idea about this disease before it was diagnosed. I had some problem of exhaustion and breathlessness but that we don't mind (considering our self strong...(:
). So I had gone for various doctors advise because my HLA was not matching. I couldn’t go for bone Marrow. So after consulting some doctor I went for ATG at Bhatia hospital Mumbai. On paper everything was right (doctor and hospital) but it was nightmare for me. I don't advise anybody to go for the same combination. Because my condition was deteriorating, I was moved to a new doctor in Ahemdabad. This gentleman is an excellent doctor as well as human being. I found him the best one in my whole experience. He gave me supporting treatment. He was strict in maintaining patient's condition. According to him patient must be kept above some minimum count level. That worked for me and I started improving. I am almost back to the normal life nowadays .I restart my work and enjoying my life. What I believe is apart from medication and other thing patient’s will does matter. So one should enjoy every
condition. (:

Thanks.

Mr. Rana (Ahemdabad)
